Cyprus Religious Sites To Be Restored

The Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB) has made a symbolic donation towards a programme aimed at restoring two religious sites, a Greek Orthodox church in northern Turkish occupied Cyprus and a mosque in the southern coastal town of Limassol, said a report from the Cyprus News Agency today.

OEB President Andreas Pittas gave the donation to the UNSG Special Representative in Cyprus Alexander Downer. The project is a bicommunal effort to restore the Arnavut Mosque in Limassol and the church of Archangel Michael in the village of Lefkoniko, in the Turkish-occupied areas.

The donation was given during a lunch, attended also by Presidential Commissioner, George Iacovou and the Advisor to the Turkish Cypriot leader, Ozdil Nami.
