Slovakian Woman Charged with Abandoning Child

A 26-year-old Slovakian woman has been charged with abandoning her child, aged one year and nine months, said police today.

The woman drove to Ayia Napa, then reportedly left her child sleeping in the car with the doors locked, the windows down and went clubbing, according to police. Passers-by heard the child crying and called the authorities, who took her into custody. Although they looked for her mother, they were unable to find her in the packed clubs of the resort.

At 3am, the mother came to the police looking for her daughter. She was charged with abandoning a child under two years old and released.
