Study Investigates Extent of Arsenic Contamination in Mammari
A new survey is to be launched in the next few days to investigate the extent of arsenic contamination in Mammari village's water supply, said a report by the state broadcaster CyBC today.
Harvard scientist Constantinos Makris is to participate in the survey, which will seek to establish the damage to the environment, and health of children and old people in the village.
The problem was discovered at the beginning of August, when tests showed that the level of arsenic was 18 parts per billion, well above WHO's limit of 10 parts per billion, according to a Cyprus Mail report on August 5th.
