Germs Too High in Argaka Swimming Pools
Swimming pools in Argaka Village 4, owned by Aristo Developers, have failed microbe tests by the State Laboratory, which recently took samples from pools around Cyprus, said the Ministry of Health.
The results have been reported to the local authorities, added the Ministry.
No one from Aristo Developers was available to comment on the situation, said a telephone operator from the company.
Many people suffer from Recreational Water Infections which are illnesses that are spread by swallowing, breathing, or having contact with contaminated water from swimming pools, spas, lakes, rivers, or oceans. Recreational water illnesses can cause a wide variety of symptoms, including gastrointestinal, skin, ear, respiratory, eye, neurologic and wound infections. The most commonly reported RWI is diarrhea. Diarrheal illnesses can be caused by germs such as Crypto, short for Cryptosporidium, Giardia, Shigella, norovirus and E. coli O157.
