Fire Services Join Forces to Fight Blaze

Greek-and-Turkish Cypriot fire services have joined forces to fight a two kilometre long forest fire that is blazing out of control in Kambos in the occupied areas.

Three fire service helicopters from the Republic and a forestry department plane are covering the area between Kambos and Lefka as the fire moves further inland past the Green Line.

The fire is consuming large areas of forest and fields, said a state broadcaster report. According to the Turkish-Cypriot administration, it was started when an electricity cable set fire to trees near Kambos.
