A Musical Journey Smyrna - Aegean - Cyprus

paradise placeParadise Place in Pomos hosts a musical journey with traditional music from Smyrna on Friday June 19th, starting at 9pm.

The musical walkabout that Pavlos Michaelides and Theodora Athanasiou started last summer from Cafe Aman of Smyrna to Cafe Amman of Piraeus and from the Aegean islands to Cyprus, continues for a second year after warm audience feedback to their last shows, said Socratis Efstathiou of Paradise Place.

They are inspired from what is known in traditional music as Zygia , which is a 2 or 3 instrumental combination that from the first period of Greek discography and heard also with lute and violin on the Greek islands today.

The two musicians bring out the melodic richness and the communicative character of this particular music with abstract arrangements.
