German Cyclist Killed in Cyprus Road Accident

A 44-year-old German cyclist was killed yesterday morning when a 26-year-old Limassol man crashed into him on the old Limassol-Nicosia road near Governor's Beach.

After the cyclist was declared dead on arrival at Limassol General Hospital, the driver of the car  - who had left the scene of the accident - was arrested by Limassol police for questioning.

Meanwhile, police said today that two young men aged 25 and 27 were arrested for driving 155 kilometres per hour on the Rizoelias-Ayia Napa road. One Cyprus driver dies every three days according to the latest statistics.
