Hadjicostis Murder Trial Postponed to September
Nicosia District Court has postponed the Andy Hadjicostis murder trial to September 9th and 10th following the prosecution's request.
The prosecution wants fourth suspect Grigoris Xenophontos to be present at the trial after his arrest in Moldavia. Moldavian authorities are expected to rule on his extradition to Cyprus on July 23rd. Xenophontos is suspected of being the shooter in Hadjicostis' brutal murder; the 41-year-old businessman was shot twice - once in the chest and once in the back - with a shotgun.
Meanwhile, defendants Elena Skordelli, Tassos Krassopoulis and Andreas Gregoriou are in custody and the defence is expected to request their release on bail. They have been held since their arrest in January on suspicion of organising and executing media group DIAS CEO Andy Hadjicostis' murder on January 11th.
The prosecution alleges that Skordelli's motive was revenge and a deadly struggle to control Sigma TV, a business in which she holds a 20 percent stake and is part of the DIAS group formerly managed by Hadjicostis.
