Pensioner Critical with Heatstroke
A 90-year-old woman is in critical condition with heatstroke in Larnaca General Hospital, said emergency room staff.
Larnaca has had the highest level of humidity yet during the current heatwave, at times it has reached 100%. The government has acted, warning outdoor workers not to work between 12pm and 4pm amid temperatures reaching 41 degrees Celsius.
The extreme humidity has also caused damage to the electricity grid in the area of Ayios Athanassios in Limassol, which was down for much of the morning as the EAC worked on restoring it.
