13 Dead of West Nile Virus in Greece
13 people have died and another 156 are infected with the West Nile Virus in Greece, said GreekReporter.com.
According to the article, infections from the virus are expected to rise until the end of September. The Greek government said it is spraying regions of northern Greece with pesticides to kill mosquito populations.
Minister of health Christos Patsalides said last month that so far there have not been any cases reported in Cyprus.
The disease is not passed on from person to person, but is caused only by mosquito bites. In general, people are advised to protect against mosquito bites by using insect repellants and wearing long-sleeved shirts and trousers.
