Trams, Trains in Next Decade

erato kozakou-markoullisCyprus will have trams and trains in the next decade, said Transport Minister Erato Kozakou-Marcoulli speaking on Sigma TV's Mesimeri Kai Kati programme.

The new transportation projects are currently under study, and the minister said that trains and trams would be a very positive development for the island, which currently has problems with traffic congestion in the cities and air pollution from high emissions.

Kozakou-Marcoulli also pointed to the success of the government's new bus system, saying there was a significant increase in people travelling by bus. There has been a rise of 41 percent in bus use from 1.4 million to 1.7 million since the introduction of the new inter-city buses in July, she said.
