October Jobless Rate Up 3.4%

The number of jobless people rose by 3.4 percent to 24,411 for the month of October compared to September, said the Cyprus Statistical Service (CYSTAT).
When compared to October 2009, the survey shows that there was a 20.8 percent increase in unemployment figures. The main sectors that have been hit by layoffs are trade, manufacturing, construction, hotels and restaurants and real estate activities, according to the survey.
