Cyprus, Save Water Campaign Launched - AKTI
The first fruits of the bicommunal Environment Technical Committee were seen on November 10th at the Fulbright Centre, when the AKTI Project and Research Centre and The Turkish-Cypriot Chamber of Environmental Engineers organised the first workshop of the project “Awareness Raising Measures for Water Saving.”
The initial workshop took place with the participation of 50 water stakeholders island-wide. The stakeholders participated in a constructive dialogue providing suggestions and ideas on how island- wide cooperation could support water saving in Cyprus.
Cyprus, save water!
Through the project campaign that starts in December and will be completed in June 2011, people will receive guidance, support and simple practical solutions for the implementation of easily applied methods and technology for their household and working environment.
‘We aim at reducing water consumption by changing user behavior and adopting simple solutions with major impact’ said the Chamber’s coordinator Funda Zaim.
The project is promoted by AKTI Project and Research Centre (www.akti.org.cy) and the TC Chamber of Environmental Engineers (www.ktcmo.org) with the cooperation of the Cyprus Environmental Stakeholder Forum (CESF) and the Regional Network for Sustainable Future. It is supported by Action for Cooperation and Trust. (www.undp-act.org)
