Baritone John Modinos Dies of Heart Failure
President Demetris Christofias has expressed his condolences on the death of Cypriot baritone John Modinos, who passed away of heart failure in Athens yesterday.
84-year-old Modinos was born in Omodhos, Limassol and emigrated to the US where he studied music.
He performed Verdi's Rigoletto over 200 times and "honoured Cyprus" with his beautiful singing in countries abroad, said Christofias.
The state will undertake the expenses for his funeral which will be held in Cyprus, said the president.
