Romanian Woman Dies in Road Accident

A 27-year-old Romanian woman died in the second road fatality in 24 hours, said police.

The accident was a head-on collision with another car on the Nicosia-Palaichori road at 6pm last night. According to police, the woman was a passenger in a car driven by a 27-year-old man when he veered into the oncoming lane, crashing into a car driven by a 38-year-old woman.

The 27-year-old victim was trapped in the car while emergency service worked to get her free. She was taken o Nicosia General Hospital where she was cerftified dead on arrival. The 27-year-old driver of the car was rushed into surgery and is in serious condition at the hospital, said police.

The dead woman's name has not yet been released to the public pending her family's notification in Romania.
