Supermarket Prices Snapshot - Watchdog

supermarket prices cyprusThe Ministry of Commerce' consumer protection watchdog has published its latest weekly survey of supermarket prices around Cyprus, revealing gaps of over 100 euros for the same basket of basic goods.

The findings are summarised below, and you can see the full listings here (in Greek).

NICOSIA (comparison of 267 common products):

Cheapest: Orphanides Supermarket (Shopping Mall) at 776 euro for a basket of 267 basic products.

Middling: Carrefour in The Mall of Cyprus at 809 euros for a basket of 267 basic products.

Most Expensive: Debenhams (Makarios Avenue) at 894.67 euros for the same basket of 267 basic products. 

LIMASSOL (comparison of 238 common products):

Cheapest: Orphanides Supermarket (Kato Polemidia) at 688.26 euros for a basket of 238 basic products.

Middling: E&S Supermarket at 758.12 euros for a basket of 238 basic products.

Most Expensive: Debenhams (Olympia) at 782.55 euros per basket of basic products.

PAPHOS (comparison of 192 common products):

Cheapest: Orphanides (The Paphos Mall) at 505.42 euros for a basket of 192 basic products.

Middling: E&S (Aphrodite) at 560.67 euros for a basket of 192 basic products.

Most Expensive: Debenhams at 587.33 euros for a basket of 192 basic products.

FAMAGUSTA (comparison of 265 common products):

Cheapest: Orphanides at 760.47 euros per basket of 265 products.

Middling: Kokkinos Supermarket at 769.22 euros per basket of 265 products.

Most Expensive: Carrefour at 778.34 euros per basket of 265 products.
