UK Evacuates British Nationals from Bahrain
The UK government is chartering planes to evacuate British nationals from Bahrain and has recommended that Britons should leave the country after five people were killed in anti-government protests.
Britons who wish to secure tickets for these flights can call +44 (0) 20 7008 5900.
There will be a charge of up to £310 for the supplementary flights, said a government spokesman.
On 15 March, Bahrain's government declared a three month state of emergency which was followed by a violent crackdown on anti-government protestors.
British Embassy closed
The British Embassy in Bahrain is closed until further notice, said the spokesman.
Yesterday, the Cyprus government warned against travelling to Bahrain, citing ongoing violence in the capital Manama.
