Greece's Bears Wake Up from Hibernation
The 13 brown bears in Greece's Arcturus sanctuary have woken up from their two-month hibernation, said Athens News Agency.
The sanctuary is home to 'Manolis', 'Barbara', 'Tassoula', 'Yorgakis', 'Irene', 'Kyriakos', 'Mitsos' and more brown bears. And 46-year-old 'Andreas' is the world's oldest brown bear living in a sanctuary.
Arcturos was founded in 1992 to save Greece's remaining brown bears. There are around 150 bears still living in northern Greece in remote areas of the Rodopi and Pindos mountains.
