These are the dates of the various performances in Nicosia which are at the Pallas Theatre. June 6th : Finland, June 8th: Austria, June 16th  Cyprus and June 22nd: Czech Republic. On Tues 7th June the Kapuscinski Lectures take place in the Home for Cooperation (opposite Ledra Palace, Nicosia) at 7pm. This event has been organised by the Cyprus Islandwide NGO Development Platform. The keynote speaker is Eveline Herfkens, former Minister of Development Cooperation in Netherlands and Founder of the UN Millennium Campaign. A policy paper “Human Rights-based Approach: A More Effective Framework for International Development Policies in New EU Member States” will also be presented.

The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra’s ‘Emerging Romanticism’ concert is on Wed June 8th at the Municipal Theatre in Strovolos at 8.30pm. It features music by Beethoven, Brahms and Mendelssohn.  Tickets are on sale from the box office.  More info on 

A series of classic Italian films will be screened from June 5th-12th at the Cine Studio (Intercollege – University of Nicosia). Alexander Ullman will be giving a piano recital featuring the works of Franz Liszt at PA.SY.DY. Theatre on June 9th.  The concert has been arranged by The Senior School and PTA to raise urgent funds for UNICEF whose offices were recently burgled and set on fire.  Tickets are €10 each and are available from The Junior School or Senior School.
On June 12th  from 10am-4pm, The Philippine Overseas Labor Office and the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Cyprus will be hosting a festival to celebrate Philippine  Independence  Day and  Migrant  Workers Day  at the  European University Cyprus in Engomi.  There’ll be cultural dances and booths selling Filipino food, arts and crafts. The Royal British Legion is celebrating their 90th anniversary on June 11th 2011 with an event at the Dhekelia Leisure Centre.  From 11am-3pm there will be various displays and stalls. At 6pm there’s a sunset ceremony and music by the Kings Division Band.  Plus there’ll be entertainment from ABBA Diva and JED with a buffet and disco.  For tickets call 9984 8091

Cyprus Services Rambling Club’s next ramble is on Sunday June 12th.  The route they will be taking is a circular one from Kalachorio – Louveras – Kalachorio and is 6 Miles/Grade 2.  It will be an early start. The Kataklysmos Flood Festival takes place from 11th - 13th June on the Limassol seafront in Cyprus and is an eventful few days with music, dance and games. Kataklysmos refers to the destruction by flood of almost all living creatures and their savour by 'Noah' and his Ark.   For more information call 25 745 919.

“High Heels for High Tea” is a charity event taking place at the Londa Hotel in Limassol on Saturday June 18th.  It’s a chance dress garden party style to enjoy music and a traditional English tea at the ultra cool Caprice.  There’ll be a buffet of freshly baked scones with jam and clotted cream, cakes and sandwiches together with Pimms, sparkling rose wine and strawberries.  Part of the proceeds are going to Funraising, a Limassol based charity foundation.  Tea is from 4pm and tickets are €25 each.  Tel: 25 865540 or Email:

The 6th annual "Aphrodite” event will be held June 17th at the Sanctuary of Aphrodite in Palaepaphos.  This year’s performance is called "The Love Songs of the Greeks".  There will be songs by local artist Kostas Hatzichristodoulou and the "Diastasis" choir. The tickets for the annual Shakespeare play at Curium are now on sale. It’s the 50th anniversary of this famous Cyprus theatrical event and the play is Romeo and Juliet. Arie Antiche is a concert featuring a selection of old arias from the middle Ages and the 16th–17th century.  It includes, among others, compositions by Vivaldi, Gluck, Durante and Buononcini.   The performance is by soprano Sona Gargaloyan, tenor Marios Charalambous, mezzo-soprano Katie Economidou and pianist Manolis Neophytou.  The concert is on Tues July 5th at 8.30pm.  For more info and ticket reservation call 22894531-2.
