The Troodos Sports and Fun Festival is on until June 26th.  Organised by the CTO, there will be lots of activities to enjoy.  There’s archery, a cross country run, a mountain bike ride around the routes on Troodos, plus games and workshops.  Full details are available from the website www.cyclingcy.com or by emailing info@mtbcyprus.com. 

There are still tickets left for Romeo and Juliet.  Shakespeare at Curium celebrates it’s the 50th anniversary.  Dates are 24th, 25th and 26th June at 8pm.  It costs €20 for adults, €10 for students. Call the box office on 9999 0535.

The Nicosia Dog Shelter is holding a fund raising bingo night on Sat June 25th at 8pm at the Brickyard Pub in Engomi.  For info and reservations call 9986 8512.

Too many dogs and not enough good homes for them!  The Nicosia Dog Shelter is holding 2 adoption afternoons from 5-7pm.  The first is on June 24th outside Kivotos Pet Shop in Ayios Dometios  and the other is at Angel Paws Pet Spa on Armenias Street on June 27th.  Call 9958 2980.

Sunday June 26th is the date for the next Cyprus Services Rambling Club’s walk.  The route will be the Trooditissa Circular which is 6 Miles/Grade 2.  NO BUSES.  To book a place on the ramble either email: bookings@csrc.ws  or phone 99 292092.

A multi-cultural festival is taking place on June 26th at 6pm outside the church in Faneromenis Square.  All free, there’ll be food music and dancing.

On Wed June 29th there is a Four-Hands piano recital feature Alessio Bax and Lucille Chung at the Shoe Factory at 8.30pm.  Tickets are on sale from 7000 9304 or through www.pharostickets.org

Paul Hutton (UK based Choregrapher and musical director) together with Alex Panayi (singer, vocal coach, and composer) will be giving a one day Music Theatre Workshop on Friday July 1st from 9am- 6pm at Potenzia Del Arte.  For ages 17 and over.  For more info call 22 44 44 43 or 99 66 09 71. 

There’s a chance hear traditional music from Venezuala played on the ‘Cuatro’.  The concert is by Venezuela en 3 and also features the guitar and saxophone.  The Nicosia dates are June 30th at 6.30pm on the steps of the Nicosia Municipality at Eleftheria Square.  Then on the 6th July they’ll be playing at the Famagusta Gate Moat just after midnight. 

The Free Spirit Party takes place at Meneou beach on Saturday July 2nd.  Entrance is free, everyone welcome.  Music starts at 9pm and goes on until sunrise.  It’s BYO or beer will be on sale for €2 and vodka drinks for €3.  Call 9661 9661.

The members of the occasional local rock band LST will give up their proper, grown up jobs for one night to take to the stage and play live for a good cause.  They will at RED on Monday 4th July 9.30pm.  Its €20 on the door and the money raised will go towards the Alkionides Charity to help a family whose 2 children have serious handicaps.  Call 2276 7711.

The Cyprus Rialto Ethnic World Music Festival is on through July.  It features musical talent and songs from Italy, Greece, the Middle East and Spain.  The line up includes Offina Zoe, Trio Khoury & Co, Kafeney Ethnic Ensemble and Charbel Rouhana and the Beirut Oriental Ensemble.  The full programme can be found on the website www.rialto.com.cy or by calling 77 77 77 43.

The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra under conductor Anastasios Strikos will be performing a selection of film score music on July 6th at 8.30pm at Strovolos Municipal Theatre.  The films include Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter, Titanic and Star Wars.  Tickets are on sale from the box office priced €12. Arie Antiche is a concert featuring a selection of old arias from the middle Ages and the 16th–17th century.  It includes, among others, compositions by Vivaldi, Gluck, Durante and Buononcini. The performance is by soprano Sona Gargaloyan, tenor Marios Charalambous, mezzo-soprano Katie Economidou and pianist Manolis Neophytou.  The concert is on Tues July 5th at 8.30pm.  For more info and ticket reservation call 22894531-2.

It’s 4 months away still but preparations are in full swing for the 2nd Quantum Nicosia Marathon and half Marathon.  Last year 5,000 runners took part and hopefully more will join the fun this year. The date is October 9th.  For more info go to the website www.nicosiamarathon.com

The Israeli group Tararam will be bringing their brand of music using everyday household objects (like Stomp) to Cyprus.  The date is July 14th at the Pattichion Theatre in Larnaca. Tickets are on sale through www.cyprus-tickets.com  or 7000 9303.

To mark their 30th anniversary, Duran Duran (Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor) will be live in concert on August 1st at Ayia Napa Municipal Stadium.  The band will play songs from their latest Mark Ronson produced album ‘All You Need Is Now’, as well as classic hits from their 30 year back catalogue.  Tickets are on sale at www.123merch.gr   and from June 20th at 10:30 at Musical Paradise in Nicosia and Ayia Napa Town Hall.  The categories of tickets are: PL1 VIP 80€ (seated).  PL2 Pitch A 65€ (standing, at a specially designed area in front of the stage).  PL3 Arena 40€ (standing).  If you buy online there is an 8% surcharge for credit cards.
