Man Crushed Between Platform, Building in Larnaca

A tragic work accident has taken the life of Turkish-Cypriot Hussein Ali who was working 30-metres high on a platform fixing a billboard when the supporting truck toppled over, crushing him between the platform and an adjacent building.

The accident happened in Larnaca at 11am yesterday (September 28th) and the 35-year-old Ali died despite the best attempts of the fire service to release him from the trap between the platform and the building. The Pyla resident was repairing a billboard on a building in Larnaca on Nikou Avenue.

The truck driver suffered from shock and was briefly hospitalised. Police said he is being questioned in an investigation into the accident.
