DNA Test Confirms Burned Body Is 49-yr-old Romanian Man

cyprus crime newsThe Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING) has confirmed that a burned body found in Alaminos in Larnaca was that of a 49-year-old Romanian man wanted by Europol, said police.

The investigation into his death is focusing on an accomplice who is thought to have transported the Romanian from a betting shop that they torched in Deftera on October 8th. In a video aired by SigmaTV, the perpetrator was seen running out of the betting shop with parts of his body on fire and sparks flying from the flames. Another man is seen trying to put out the fire.

Police have asked anyone with information to come forward to help their investigation.

Arson and explosive devices placed outside betting shops have sadly become commonplace, with the most high-profile case being the arrest of suspected gambling kingpin Antonis Fanieros. Fanieros is under investigation for more than 20 allegations of blackmail, threats of violence and other organised crime.
