Road Accident Takes Life of 18-yr-old Paphos Man
A new road fatality is being investigated by police after an 18-year-old man from Paphos was killed in a collision with a tree as he was driving on the Polis-Paphos highway.
George Charalambous was driving his car on the main road to Polis when he veered off the road just after midnight, said police. After hitting a tree on the side of the road, he ws trapped in the car along with a passenger, also aged 18 years old.
The fire department managed to free Charalambous from the car and he was rushed to Paphos General Hospital, but doctors could only certify his death.
Paphos traffic police are investigating how and why the car went off the road.
It is the second road fatality within 48 hours, after an 18-year-old Nicosia man died in an accident in Lakatamia late last week.
