woman dies in dali slimming salonAuthorities are investigating the possible death by electric shock of a woman who was on a machine in a slimming salon, according to a report by

48-year-old Marianna Koumbari Themistocleous was in her relative's slimming salon in Dali, Nicosia yesterday evening at 7pm.

Police said that she was speaking with a friend on her mobile phone when she lost consciousness. The friend on the other end of the line called an ambulance and sent her daughter to see what had happened. Her daughter found her unconscious in the salon and she was rushed to Nicosia General Hospital where she was certified dead. An autospy is set to confirm the exact cause of the woman's tragic death.

According to investigators, the machine which killed Themistocleous did not have an EU standards 'CE' certificate required by law, and experts are examining it to establish exactly how the accident occurred.

There is widespread concern from women who regularly go to beauty and sliming therapists, and MP Athena Kyriakidou, member of Parliament's health committee, said she would bring the matter up for discussion at the committee's next meeting, in comments to Sigma TV.
