Me and The Yum Company

Hello, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Rosie, organic food business owner and organic queen of Cyprus (yeah, dream on!). Well, I hope I deserve the title I have bestowed upon myself simply because I am absolutely devoted to organic food and anything else organic, eco-friendly products and green issues in general.

You have found a place where I will be regularly posting updates about how I keep myself busy making food as well as a few other things to throw into the pot! So here’s a bit of background info. Those of you who know me are aware that I own an organic food production company. With a long background in technology marketing, it may seem strange that I decided to follow another path in life, but the truth is that I have followed an organic way of life for as long as I can remember and I knew that eventually I would do something along those lines.

Fast forward to my arrival in Cyprus 5 years ago. Not for the first time I should add, as being of part-Cypriot extraction has brought me here many times over the years as most of my family live in Limassol.

Although I was delighted to find the sun and sea after living in rainy England, I was dismayed to find little in the way of healthy convenience food. Plenty of fresh stuff, yes, but organic was limited and healthy, convenience food for working people and busy mums was non-existent.

I decided therefore, that I would do it myself and thus established The Yum Company in 2010. The idea was to make freshly-prepared meals and snacks which were healthy, ready to eat and above all, organic! My thinking was, well, I want this kind of thing myself and I don’t want to sacrifice my health by eating junk food when I don’t have time (or can’t be bothered!) to cook.

The Yum Company ready meals can now be found in Alphamega Hypermarkets and selected health stores around Cyprus and there are plans for some exciting new product launches soon.
