49-year-old Motorcyclist Killed in Road Accident

A 49-year-old motorcyclist from Limassol was killed yesterday afternoon in a collision with a car driven by a 53-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Michalis Charalambous was driving his motorcycle on the winding Limassol-Fassoula road when he was hit by the car and died immediately, said police.

Authorities said the driver of the car stank of alcohol and refused to take a breathalyser test once he was taken to Limassol General Hospital. The 53-year-old has been taken into custody.

Charalambous was the father of two young children.
