Andy Hadjicostis Laid to Rest

Hundreds of friends, family and business associates turned out to see Andy Hadjicostis laid to rest in Ayios Omologitaes church after his brutal and shocking murder on the night of January 11th.

The liturgy was followed by speeches from close family friends as well as the head of Simerini, the DIAS group's daily newspaper.

"We will not be terrorised, and will continue speaking out and giving people the information they need," said Chief Editor Savvas Iacovides.

Distraught media figures and celebrities attended the funeral to pay a last tribute to the man who had run the largest media group on the island, and had made friends throughout the world.

Meanwhile, police said that they have no new leads on who ambushed and shot Andy Hadjicostis as he was getting out of his car at 8.30pm January 11th. However, authorities have taken statements from many of DIAS' employees and are looking for witnesses to come forth who may have seen the killers as they made their getaway.

Hadjicostis was shot in the chest at point blank range with a shotgun by a man and his accomplice, both of whom escaped on a motorcycle and have yet to be apprehended.

Police said they are close to arresting a suspect, but have not divulged any more details.
