It takes place at the Rialto Theatre from 9th- 11th March at 8.30pm and entry is €10 for all performances. On Saturday 10th Mar the Women’s Friendship Group at St Paul’s will be holding a charity bazaar from 10am- midday in the grounds of the Cathedral.

There’s a mountain bike ride on Sun 11th March. Starting point will be in Ormidia at the Aleytika Katafygia at 9:15am. The route will follow the seaside road to Xylofagou through Ayia Napa to Cape Greko National Park, through to Protaras and a coffee break. Return to Ormidia via Xylofagou. Distance approximately 70km. Difficulty 5/6 (mostly due to the distance). If interested in taking part contact the ride leader, Nikki Kriaraki 99336547.

On Sun 11th Mar there is an open orienteering event at Athalassa Forest Park, N/sia. The meeting place is at the car park, with the first registration starting at 9.30am and the last at 10.45am. You can run in teams of 2-3 people. The course will be about 4.6kms with 8 controls. Orienteering maps will be provided free of charge for club members. Yearly membership is €10 euros. For those trying the sport for the first time, there will be no charge. The route can be seen on the website www.orientaction.org.cy/athalassa.html . Wear light clothing, training shoes and a hat. All runners should carry water.

The Oscar winning actress Olympia Dukakis is one of the keynote speakers at the Women’s Congress which takes place on Tues 13th March. Other guest speakers include the visually impaired Miles Hilton-Barber whose adventures have taken him to from London to Sydney as the first blind pilot to undertake a 55-day, 21,000 kilometers in a microlight; he hauled a sledge across Antarctica and climbed Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt. Blanc China. Also at the congress will be Dr Linda Papadopoulos, Psychologist, author and commentator for CNN, Sky and Channel 4 together with Katerina Mina the London based Greek-Cypriot soprano and Italian painter and dancer, Simona Atzori. The British High Commission together with the Nicosia Cycling Association are raising money for the Cyprus Red Cross on Sat 24th March at 9.30am in Athalassa Park (Latsia entrance). ACT (Anglo Cypriot Theatre) is performing Patrick Marber’s play ‘Closer’ (the movie version starred Jude Law and Julia Roberts). Auditions for ACT’s (Anglo Cypriot Theatre) summer production of Richard Sheridan’s comedy of manners ‘The Rivals’ will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral Hall, Byron Avenue, Nicosia on Sat, 17th March 2012 starting at 2.30pm. As part of the Francophonie festivities, the Consulate of Canada is hosting two lectures. One is by Graham Colville, son of the Canadian artist Alex Colville and will take place on Tues Mar 13th at 7.30pm. The lecture titled ‘Alex Colville - the artist’ will be in English and feature illustrations of his father’s works. The second lecture is on Friday, March 23rd at 7.30pm by Michel Bonnardeaux, spokesperson of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus. The lecture will be in English, is called ‘Federalism’ and available in written form in French. Both lectures will be at Kastelliotissa Cultural Centre in Nicosia. On Sun April 15th in the Village Square, Aphrodite Hills resort are holding their traditional Easter Market. There will be lots of stalls , selling handcrafted goods, traditional Easter food and drink, fun activities for children such as face painting and a bouncy castle, Easter egg hunt, donkey and pony rides, magic show… and even a visit from the Easter Bunny. It starts at 11am until 4pm. All welcome.

The Alkionides Charity is organizing a premiere of the movie ‘The Iron Lady’ starring Oscar winner Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher. All proceeds will go to help families in need. The Shoe Factory is screening the documentary ‘My Architect’ on Wed, March 14th, 8.30pm which tells the story of the reknowned Jewish architect Louis I Kahn, his complicated personal life and looks at his legacy. Entry is free.
