Two Dead in Road Accidents Within 48 Hours

Two people lost their lives in separate road accidents over the last 48 hours, according to police reports. At 2.30am on Saturday, a 29-year-old man driving on Tefkrou Anthia street collided with a car driven by a 20-year-old man with passengers aged 19 and 16-years-old.

All involved were injured in the accident, and doctors at Paralimni Hospital could only certify the 29-year-old's death. The 16-and-19-year-olds are being kept for treatment and Famagusta traffic police are investigating the fatality.

Today at 10.30am, 31-year-old Yiannis Kleanthous was driving his car on the Platres-Limassol road when he crashed into a car driven by a 57-year-old man. The fire service had to be called to get Kleanthous out of his car because he was not wearing a seatbelt, said police. Two passengers in the 57-year-old's car were injured and all involved were taken to hospital by ambulance.

Upon arriving at Limassol General Hospital, Kleanthous' death was certified by doctors, while the others involved were kept for treatment.

Limassol traffic police are investigating the road accident.
