Nicosia Cop Arrested for Theft
A Nicosia policeman has been arrested on allegations that he stole 850 euros from another man's wallet as they were in a pub.
The pair were keeping company in a bar when the 48-year-old left the table and while he was gone, the policeman stole the money from his wallet, said a police spokesman.
The policeman in question left the bar, and was arrested shortly afterwards after witnesses gave statements against him. He admitted his guilt and gave back 450 euros.
The policeman was suspended and a legal and disciplinary proceedings have been launched against him. The Ayios Dometios police station is investigating the case.
