Priest Busted with Three Kilos of Marijuana

A 37-year-old priest, apparently looking for short-cuts to God, was arrested at Larnaca Airport on his way back from Greece at 10.30 last night with three kilograms of marijuana, said police.

The Greek national, who lives in Dali, admitted he had planned to sell the drugs because he had financial problems. It is not the first time Father Panayiotis Triantafyllou has been in trouble with police, said authorities.

The suspect - who is married with a child - has been remanded for eight days for questioning as police search for the suppliers and recipients of the drugs.

There was no immediate comment from the Orthodox Church.
