9000 Tons of Soybean Animal Feed Suspected Of Carrying Salmonella
Around 9000 tons of soybean animal feed suspected of carrying salmonella have been seized by authorities, according to a report by AllAboutFeed.com. The feed arrived from Argentina on May 8th and the contamination was discovered on May 16th, says the report.
Agriculture Minister Sophocles Aletraris said the feed is being tested to decide which contaminated contents will be destroyed.
According to AllAboutFeed.com, salmonella-contaminated feed can either be destroyed or passed through a special chemical which kills it. Further testing can then ensure whether salmonella is still present.
