Unemployment Still At Record Highs in June

The number of unemployed rose from 34,162 in May to 34,215 in June, said the Cyprus Statistical Service.

Compared to a year ago, unemployment is at a record high, up by 26 percent, according to official figures.

Just three years ago, unemployment was at 16,740 persons, but subsequent years of economic slowdown and recession have resulted in many businesses closing down, including state-owned Eurocypria and many private sector enterprises.
