Mother and son musicians, Gayane and Narek Hakhnazaran, will give a cello and piano recital on Fri July 6th at 8.30pm at the Shoe Factory (304 Ermou St, Old Nicosia). For tickets call 7000 9304.
There is an evening race meeting at The Nicosia Race course on Friday July 6th. There will be a private marquee - which will be air-conditioned, a small private stand and an outside area which is safe for children. Tickets are €25 each (children under 12 pay half). The Boxing event ‘Bigger is Better’ takes place in Limassol at the Monte Caputo on Friday July 6th. As well as traditional boxing the night and features Mixed Martial Art also Thai boxing. Doors open at 7pm and entrance is €20.

The Cyprus Institute Solar Car Challenge 2012 is on Sun July 8th. The custom-made solar vehicles will race each other on the public roads of Geroskipou and Pafos. The participants are from local and international schools, and university teams, who have designed, and built their own. The race is open for everyone to watch and will start at Neapolis University at 10am and finish at Pafos castle, where the award ceremony will take place at 13:45. Come and join the Cyprus Services Rambling Club are next walking on on Sun 8th July and will be doing the Platres Village Tour & Milomeris Waterfall. As part of the Summer Nights programme, Lo Cor de la Plana will be playing live in Ayia Varvara Square on Thurs July 12th at 8.30pm. The band is from Marseille and sings in Occitan, an almost forgotten language.

The Nicosia Dog Shelter is throwing a fund raising summer sunset party on board a catamaran. It’s on Sat 21st July from 7.30 pm until midnight; there’ll be food, music & drinks. The ship is moored at Green Bay jetty, Protaras. Bring your swimsuit for an evening dip. The Nicosia Dog Shelter’s next adoption day is on Wed July 18th from 6.30-8.30pm at Second Cup in Engomi. There will be lots of dogs who need a good home as summer is a difficult time as some are abandoned over the long holiday.
The Nicosia Cycling club will be at the Stavros tis Psokas camping site a for Mountain biking weekend. You can either stay in tents or in a nearby guest houses (further details at 26991858). The first ride is on Sat 21st July from 5.30- 7.30pm, this will be followed by a BBQ. The second ride is on Sun 22nd July from 9am-1pm. You will need to bring breakfast for as well as snacks and water. Lunch on Sun will be at a taverna and will cost approx €12 per person (payable to the taverna).
