EU Nationals, Foreign Nationals Are 20% of Cyprus Population
Cyprus has the second-highest proportion of foreign EU nationals after Luxembourg, with 20 percent of its overall population stemming from EU member states, said Eurostat.
There are 167,800 foreign nationals here, 105,400 are EU nationals, 62,400 are from third countries.
Germany, Spain and Italy are the top three choices for EU nationals on the basis of sheer numbers. There are 7.2 million EU nationals in Germany (9% of the population); 5.7 million in Spain and 4.6 million in Italy, according to the survey which covers the year 2011.
Overall, there are 48.9 million foreign-born people living in the EU27, with 16.5 million EU nationals and 32.4 million from third countries, according to the survey.
