Larnaca Man Remanded On Suspicion of Raping 10-year-old Boy

A 34-year-old Larnaca man has been remanded for eight days while police investigate the rape of a 10-year-old Palestinian boy in Larnaca.

The suspect was detained by Larnaca District Court this morning after the boy told his parents that he was approached by a man speaking Greek who promised to show him a dog. The boy trustingly followed the man from a parking lot in Finikoudes on the seafront, to the roof of a building nearby.

The man then forced the boy to take his clothes off at knifepoint, raped him and left.

The victim is in hospital suffering from shock, and police said that various parts of his body were bruised and red.

A Nicosia paedophile was jailed for 25 years for similar crimes in February this year after he raped two girls under the age of 10. The rapist tempted them over to his house with puppies, and then ruined their lives, but has still not been named by authorities.

Calls for a registrar of sexual offenders on the police's website have so far been ignored.
