Mary's Dinner Club - Happy Birthday Mary & A Website is Born

So this week’s dinner club had been moved to a Tuesday, and that Tuesday, August 14th, ended up being a special day and evening. It was my birthday and I wanted to be sure I’d get to dine in style and in good company.

And it was the day of the launch of my website www.marysworld.org, which made me double excited! I had wisely planned a menu that allowed lots of pre-cooking: A new Middle Eastern discovery: baby onions browned in a delicious honey and spice mix with homemade, wonderfully thin and crunchy Lebanese pizza and an all time favorite from Morocco: chicken in a flavorful sauce of cinnamon, ginger, turmeric… marinated in olive oil and pickled lemons and simmered with green olives - there’s something almost mystifyingly delicious about this combination!

So I basically got to spend my day posting and reposting the link to my wonderful web page and decorating my apartment and my cakes….two were needed, one for the birthday girl and one for the webpage.

I had made my favorite banana bread ‘done up’ as a cake with candles and another Lebanese treat - Namoura, a semolina based cake which I adapted to my taste by soaking it in a citrus flavored syrup. The decoration was done in Nutella - perfect writing consistency!

I had lots of fun, especially as I kept being ‘interrupted’ by birthday phone calls, sms and wishes on facebook. This time I had only 9 guests so I got to join them too - and how lovely it was to have some of my favorite friends and dinner club guests around.

Almost everyone knew each other so we skipped the intro part but stuck to the changing seats after each course bit as there was lots of ‘I haven’t seen you in so long’ or ‘I’ve heard so much about you’. A great time was had by all and they all did a lovely job with all those candles and the singing. Thank you everybody for sharing this special day!

For me the excitement continues, as I keep exploring the wonders of the www. and the social media and all the functions of my site to which I have full access. I’d like to thank Andrew Tzionis from www.perpetrogroup.com for the fantastic job he has done creating this platform for me to share my passion and representing the essence of my dinner club so well. I look forward to utilizing the site to expand my network, to help connect people and to share news - food related and not - with all those who like discovering new cuisines, new people and new opportunities.
