Water Cuts End Today
Water cuts are to be ended today as the island's dams have a satisfactory level of water, said a water department spokesman today.
On January 11th, the department reinstated cuts citing water wastage by the population, however, rainfall was plentiful over the last two weeks.
Desalination plants are currently being built to meet the country's water needs, but they will not be completed until mid-2011. In the summer of 2008, the government paid 50 million euros for 700 million cubic meters of water to be shipped to the island after a drought depleted water supplies to dangerously low levels.
