Alleged Wife Killer Plotted in Cyprus
Alleged US wife-killer Yazeed Essa plotted to blame one of his mistresses for his spouse's cyanide poisoning whilst in prison in Cyprus, according to US media reports.
According to testimony in his ongoing trial for aggravated murder, Essa's cousin Haddi Qasem visited him in prison on the island, and told jurors he overheard a conversation between Essa and his brother Firas. Essa said that his mistress Michelle Madeline, a nurse at Akron General Hospital, could have laced his wife's calcium pills with cyanide.
Essa's lawyers maintain that another of Essa's mistresses could have been responsible for the murder - Marguerita Montanez was reportedly obsessed with Essa and deeply jealous of his wife, said the Cleveland Plain Dealer daily.
Yazeed Essa was arrested in Cyprus and extradited to the US after leaving Cleveland following his wife's death.
