Four-Day Adjournment in Hadjicostis Murder Case

Nicosia District Court has adjourned a hearing on formal charges for suspects in the Hadjicostis murder case, said a police spokesman.

The hearing started today February 5th, and was to determine which suspects would be charged and what they would be charged with. It will continue on Tuesday February 9th. The prosecution's case rests on the testimonies of 123 witnesses. Meanwhile, the suspects were moved to Nicosia Central Prisons, with one of them, Andreas Gregoriou, being taken to Nicosia General Hospital to continue treatment for injuries he sustained December 25th, 2009 when he was the target of a car bomb in Tseri.

Four suspects are currently on remand on suspicion of planning and executing the murder of DIAS CEO Andy Hadjicostis on January 11th. TV presenter Elena Skordelli, her brother Tassos Krassopoulis, Andreas Gregoriou and Fanos Hadjigeorgiou were in court today. A fifth suspect, Grigoris Xenophontos, is on the run with European and international arrest warrants on his head. Another suspect, Costas Proestou, was released without charges.
