Three Suspects Charged with Hadjicostis Murder

Elena Skordelli, Tassos Krassopoulis and Andreas Gregoriou have been charged with planning and executing media CEO Andy Hadjicostis' murder on January 11th.

Their trial is set to start on February 22nd and Nicosia District Court will decide tomorrow whether they are to be kept in custody until then. A fourth suspect, Fanos Hadjigeorgiou, has not been charged as he confessed to his part in the hit and is being protected as a prime witness.

Defence lawyers for Skordelli and brother Krassoupolis said that Hadjigeorgiou's confession is 'weak and almost non-existent'.

Andy Hadjicostis was shot twice in the chest and back by a shotgun fired by a gunman who escaped on a motorcycle with an accomplice on the night of January 11th. Authorities believe the motive was revenge as Skordelli had been ousted from Sigma TV, where she was a reporter and presenter and in possession of 20 percent of the company's shares.
