Dophins Beached on Lady's Mile
Fourteen dolphins were beached on Lady's Mile shoreline today, with authorities from the Coast Guard and Akrotiri Airbase working to release them back into the sea.
According to state broadcaster Radio 3, another seven dolphins are just offshore apparently waiting for the distressed beached dolphins.
Most of the dolphins have been returned to the sea, said the report. As highly social animals, dolphins will often follow other members of the pod which have become disoriented because of underwater sonar or noise from shipping traffic.
