A 28-year-old Latvian man was killed in a road accident this morning at 4.05am, said police, who have not yet identified the victim.
"We are still expecting confirmation of his identity," said a spokesman.
A female passenger who was probably his wife is in serious condition in Limassol General Hospital. According to the latest information, the driver was trying to overtake a car on the Linopetra-Germasoyia road in Limassol when he collided with a truck in the oncoming lane.
Since the beginning of the year to date (March 31st) 16 people have died in road accidents, compared to 14 fatalities in 2009 and 19 fatalities in 2008.
