Alexander Gagatsis was born in Chambéry, France and raised between Thessaloniki (Greece) and Nicosia (Cyprus), growing up in a multicultural environment. He studied drums with Brian Abrahams and mallet percussions with Daniela Ganeva and holds masters degrees from the Trinity College of Music and King’s College London. Alexander Gagatsis has an Artist Diploma from the State University of New York where he studied with Hal Galper, Jon Faddis and John Abercrombie.
He was generously supported by the Nicolas Economou Foundation, the State University of New York and was a Trinity College of Music scholar. Aside from a busy performing and teaching schedule, he has been carrying out ‘Out Reach’ work in London, first with the Grand Union Orchestra (2007-2009) and later for ReachOut, a mentoring charity. Currently, he tries to balance performing and scholarly activity and is a PhD candidate and teaching affiliate at the University of Nottingham, where he holds the Vice-Chancellor’s award for research excellence and the Leventis Foundation scholarship.
Composer and jazz guitarist Tasos Stylianou attended the University of Utah where he received his PhD in Composition. An amazing guitarist with diverse range of skills, improvising comes as naturally as breathing to Tasos Stylianou.
Bassist Irenaeos Koullouras’ most recent accomplishment was to organise the Old Port Jazz Festival in Limassol. One of the most dedicated and active jazz musicians, Koullouras has a pure love for music.
Stelios Xydias is a drummer from Limassol, Cyprus. He shared the stage with some great musicians like Gilad Atsmon, Damian Erskine and more… He also performed in various records with Cahit Kutrafali, and Andreas Rodosthenous. In 2014 he published his personal EP “Silence” solo drums. In 2015 he created his drum school “Precision and freedom drum center” in Limassol, where he teaches drums. He is an active member of the music society around him.
