What do Jazz, Wine Tastings, Cubano and Oscar Peterson Have in Common? Sarah’s Jazz Club!

The home of jazz in Nicosia is back and jazzing after the Orthodox Easter break, striking up with Romance Wednesdays on April 11th.

Sarah Fenwick (vocals) and Dimitris Miaris combine their musical talent with a wine tasting for everyone to enjoy the delectable bottled delicacies from SCAIA and Nerantzi wineries.

Music culture meets wine culture.

sarah fenwick jazzTravel through your emotions with the wonderful live music, while making a journey to the foothills and valleys of Greece, where Nerantzi is made with passion and precision. SCAIA wines take you on a taste-trip to Italy. Sarah’s Jazz Club offers quality music and refreshments, and this is an opportunity to try some of the wines on our menu.

The wine tasting will be held in collaboration with Oinotria Wine Cellar from 8pm to 9:30pm, followed by the jazz concert.

dimitris miarisRomance Wednesdays are followed on Thursday April 12th with Miaris & Mystery from the UK. The inspired Cypriot jazz pianist Dimitris Miaris performs at 9:30pm with a very special mystery guest from abroad. The repertoire is classic jazz. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The evening is all about fun, wine and jazz.

Joined by pianist Andreas Panteli and drummer Stelios Xydias, the trio will perform the classic arrangements of Oscar Petersons’s greatest hits. Expect a traditional swinging piano trio sound, with high excitement and beautiful interplay between the three musicians. But most importantly, enjoy the beautiful classic arrangements of Oscar Peterson who was called the “Maharaja of the keyboard” by Duke Ellington, but simply “O.P.” by his friends.

Oscar Peterson has released over 200 recordings, won eight Grammy Awards, and received numerous other awards and honours. He is considered one of the greatest jazz pianists, and played thousands of concerts worldwide in a career lasting more than 60 years.

La Familia Cubana is a Salsa/Latin quartet dedicated to playing and honoring Latin music. The band performs both classic and contemporary songs that both dancers and audiences crave. Formed by bassist Costas Challoumas, the group celebrates and presents the hot afro-rhythms of Son Cubano, Rhumba, Bolero, Cha Cha, Bachata and Merengue that make musica latina irresistible!
