Entrepreneur Starts Petition to Amend Annual Company Fee

My name is Sarah Fenwick, I’m an entrepreneur in the arts and communications fields.
In 2012, I started my company Jazz Arts & Communications with a passion to make a difference in the field of jazz music and video productions. A year later, the financial and economic crashes devastated Cyprus’ economy.
Also in 2013, the House of Representatives passed a raft of economic laws, including an emergency annual fee of EUR350 on every single company in Cyprus.
Now, in 2020/21, the company fee has not been reversed even though the 2013 crisis is over. It still applies to all companies, no matter how large or small.
It would be more fair to amend the law so that smaller and micro companies pay less or are completely exempted because their capacity to pay this fee is considerably reduced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2013 financial and economic crash has been replaced by yet another economic crisis in which micro and small to medium companies will be instrumental in creating more jobs. The European Union has released billions of Euros to assist this class of company, which is the majority in Cyprus.
Help us to survive by signing this petition and lobbying the House of Representatives to amend or annul this law. A law must be fair and not over-burden the businesses which are keeping the economy running.
