Andy Hadjicostis’ Murderers Lose Appeal - Report

Four convicts serving life sentences for the murder of Andy Hadjicostis have lost their appeal in a unanimous vote by a three-member panel of judges, reports SigmaLive.com

Elena Skordeli, her brother Tassos Krasopoulos, Gregoris Xenophontos and Andreas Gregoriou were convicted of planning and carrying out the murder of DIAS CEO Andy Hadjicostis on January 11th, 2010. The motive was control of the Sigma TV station, with Skordeli formerly owning 21 percent of the company. According to the evidence, she was embittered by the termination of her employment there and angered by the debts she had incurred to buy shares and gather power in the station. She then cold-bloodedly colluded with her brother and some underworld criminals to end the CEO’s life.

On that dark, cold night in January, Andy Hadjicostis was getting out of his car to go home after work, said police. He was shot to death from a motorcyle, which was later found dumped not far from Nicosia.

His murder was all the more shocking and saddening because he had just been married a few months before.

Skordelli will now likely appeal to the European Court of Human Rights, said a family member.
