15 Killed After Roadside Bomb Hits Passenger Bus near Somalia Capital

A roadside bomb hit a passenger minibus near the Somali capital Mogadishu early on June 30th, with witnesses putting the death toll at 15.

Police officer Nur Hassan was unable to confirm the number, but said that “many bodies, including women, were scattered on the road.”

Witnesses said at least seven people were injured. The bus, which was split into two, was believed to have carried 22 people.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, but Somalia government officials said they believed it was the work of Islamist Shabab militants.

The terrorist group has been carrying out attacks across Somalia for almost a decade. On Saturday, Shabab fighters stormed a hotel in Mogadishu, killing at least six people.
