German Couple Die in Road Accident

After the death of a German couple in a road accident near Platres on September 2nd, the road fatality toll has reached 34 people.

The 49-year-olds were driving on the Limassol-Platres road at 12:50 when their rental vehicle collided with another car that entered their lane, hitting them head-on. The couple were killed in the impact, and although they were wearing safety belts and the airbags worked, the car was hit too hard and accordioned, crushing their bodies inside their seats. The fire services managed to release them but they had already passed away.

The oncoming car was driven by a 60-year-old Cypriot man, who was slightly injured and hospitalised. Traffic police are investigating the causes of the tragedy.
