A 78-year-old man died on September 9th after being hit by a car while he was crossing a street in Limassol at 8.30pm, said police.

A 50-year-old Russian man drove into Polynikis Kyriakou, who was wearing dark clothes. The driver tested negative for alcohol and it appears he simply didn’t see the pedestrian, as it was getting dark and there was a lot of dust in the atmosphere.

Forty people have died in road accidents this year, 10 in Limassol alone.

Limassol traffic police are investigating the accident.
